McConnell, Sagel, Storm headline talented Reading contingent at pre-draft event

Robby Sagel anchored United's defense throughout the PDL Playoffs

Major League Soccer has revealed it's initial list of collegiate players that have been invited to attend the 2017 MLS SuperDraft Player Combine and Reading United is again well represented. Guillermo Delgado, Connor Maloney, Billy McConnell, Lindo Mfeka, Robby Sagel, Colton Storm and Jordan Wilson will look to make a good impression on the technical staffs of the 22 Major League Soccer clubs at the combine in Los Angeles, California from January 8-12.

Delgado, who spent the 2014 PDL season with Reading, shattered goal scoring records at the University of Delaware during his collegiate career. The former Reading forward scored 49 goals for the Blue Hens in a route to becoming the school's only four time All-American.

Maloney had a brief stint with Reading United during the 2014 season but has been an offensive dynamo for the Penn State Nittany Lions throughout his college career. The Union Academy grad was the 2014 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection. Maloney scored 26 goals and 17 assists in his four seasons at Happy Valley.

McConnell spent two seasons with Reading. The Union Academy grad was an integral part of Head Coach Stephen Hogan's defense during the 2016 PDL season, displaying excellent tactical awareness and poise under pressure. McConnell scored two goals and recorded three assists for the Indiana Hoosiers in 2016.

Lindo Mfeka, a forward out of the University of South Florida, had a brief spell with Reading United during the 2015 PDL season. The Bulls forward tallied four goals and earned NSCAA All-Region honors in 2016.

Sagel anchored Reading United's backline en route to helping the club claim the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Division crown. The athletic, physically imposing centerback has spent time with Reading in each of the last three PDL seasons. Sagel's fine form at Reading carried over to his senior season at Penn State, where he earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors.

Storm spent the 2014 and 2015 PDL seasons with Reading United, where he displayed all the tools necessary to make the jump to the professional ranks. The speedy outside back would often launch a dangerous Reading counterattack. The Mechanicsburg, PA native is a Philadelphia Union Academy alum and had a standout collegiate career with the University of North Carolina. Storm was the Tar Heels captain in 2016 and helped lead his side to the 2016 College Cup National Semifinal.

Wilson, a centerback for the University of Kentucky, spent parts of the 2014 and 2016 PDL seasons with Reading United. The towering defender helped the Wildcats post one the nation's best defensive records and earned NSCAA All-Region honors.
