READING, PA (May 3, 2017) – Reading United A.C. continues to build it’s 2017 roster and today announced the return of two exciting, young offensive prospects. Kutztown Area High School star Pierre Reedy and Elizabethtown College sensation Gilbert Waso will return to United for the 2017 Premier Development League campaign.

Pierre Reedy joins an impressive list of the Greater Reading area’s top soccer stars that have played for Reading United. Reedy burst on the scene during the 2014 Berks High School soccer season. The Kutztown forward led all of Pennsylvania with 43 goals. Reedy helped the Cougars lift their first ever PIAA District 3 championship trophy, scoring the game-winning goal in the title game.

Reedy featured for the New York Red Bulls under-18 squad before heading to State College to play for the Penn State Men’s Soccer Team. In his first season at Penn State, Reedy made 16 starts, scoring a goal and adding two assists en route to being named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.

In 2016, the Kutztown star was a late season addition to United’s squad. Reedy made four appearances for United, recording a goal and an assist in Reading’s 2-1 Eastern Conference Semifinal victory over the Carolina Dynamo.

Gilbert Waso returns to Reading after making six appearances for the club in 2016. Waso scored the game-winning goal in United’s playoff victory over Carolina off an assist by Reedy. The dynamic forward possesses an electrifying skill set and few defenders can match his pace.

Waso has dazzled fans and baffled the opposition in his two seasons at Elizabethtown College. The diminutive Elizabethtown forward is a two-time NSCAA All-American and has won the Landmark Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year in back to back seasons. He scored 15 goals and recorded six assists for the Blue Jays in 2016 and led the conference in goals, points and shots and was second overall in assists.

Reading United will kickoff their 22nd season on Saturday, May 13th when they host local rivals Lehigh Valley United at Don Thomas Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm with tickets available online. All United home matches throughout the 2017 PDL season will be played at Exeter Township Senior High School. Tickets for the all regular season matches are available at www.readingunitedac.com.
