Reading United Reserve Team

Reading United Reserves play friendly matches with reserve teams in USL League Two, as well as USL of PA, NPSL, UPSL, and USASA level teams in the surrounding region. For 2023, the USL2 first team called up 7 reserve players, with some players making the starting XI!  

The Reserves are coached by Rich Kessler and practice 2-3 time per week.  The season starts end of May and continues through the 2nd week of July.  The cost to be a reserve player is $400.  If interested in the spring 2024 season, please reach out to Coach Rich.

This is a perfect stepping stone for players looking to continue playing high level soccer during their college offseason.

Coach Amy Hough Joins Reading's Coaching Staff

READING, PA (February 26, 2024) –  Reading United A.C. is excited to announce Amy Hough as the Women’s WPSL Asst. Coach for the 2024 Season.  Coach Hough joins Reading United AC from Elizabethtown College where she is the Head Coach of the women’s soccer team (2016-present). In her tenure at Etown, she has coached the Blue Jays to four, Landmark Conference playoff appearances, including the program’s first ever Landmark Championship game in 2021. She has developed 22 all-conference players, 4 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees, and 1 United Soccer Coaches All-American. Coach Hough and her staff were named the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2019. 

"’Amy is going to be a real asset to Reading United," said Thomas “Goose” Goselin, Head Coach of the women's WPSL team. "Amy brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the game to the team.  I am excited to welcome Coach Hough and am confident that she will make an immediate impact on the success of the team."

Prior to Etown, Couch Hough was a NCAA DI Coach for seven seasons, spending time as an assistant coach at both Lehigh University (2011-2016) and La Salle University (2009-2011).  Coach Hough’s professional experience includes being the assistant coach with the inaugural season of the Philadelphia Independence (2010), a women’s professional team that participated in the The Women's Professional Soccer League, which unfortunately folded in 2012.

“I am honored to join the coaching staff of Reading United’s WPSL team.”  Coach Hough added, “I look forward to working alongside Goose and adding into the Reading United women’s team as we build on last season’s achievements.”

At the youth level, Coach Hough spent time with Lehigh Valley United from 2013-2016 as well as assisting with Todd Hoffard’s 1on1 Goalkeeping camps. 

As a student-athlete, Coach Hough was an all-conference goalkeeper at La Salle University (NCAA DI, Atlantic 10 Conference), where she graduated from in 2009. During the summers, she played in the WPSL for the Philadelphia Pirates (2006) / Liberty (2007-2008).

Berks Professional Sports, Inc. Announce Keith Conway as Reading’s USL2 Asst. Men’s Coach and Men’s Reserve Team Head Coach

READING, PA (February 15, 2024) –  Reading United A.C. is excited to announce Keith Conway as the Men’s USL2 Asst. Coach and Reserve Team Coach for the 2024 Season.  Coach Conway replaces Keelan Powers, who was with Reading for one season before moving onto a role with the Colorado Switchbacks.   Coach Conway’s extensive experience includes coaching professionally in the U.S. since moving from Ireland in 2019. 

"’We are very excited to have Keith join the coaching staff at Reading United," said Casey Moore, Head Coach of the men's USL2 team. "Keith is a knowledgeable and hard-working coach with great experience at all levels.  He is a genuine person with strong character and we will rely on him heavily to assist the USL2 team in all facets as well as lead the Reserve team as their Head Coach."

Coach Conway joins Reading United from the Ursinus Men’s Soccer team where he has been the assistant coach since the ’21/’22 season.  In his time at Ursinus, who compete in the nationally recognized Centennial Conference, for the ‘21/’22 season, Coach Conway guided the team to its best season record and first winning season in program history (10-6-1), he repeated that success in the ‘23/’24 season with an 8-7- record), coached the team to the best start to a season ever in ‘23/’24 (recording a 6-1 record in their first 7 games), and beat the nationally ranked John Hopkins University twice, once in ‘21/’22 and again in the ‘23/’24 seasons.  

“I am excited to share the insights of my success I had at Ursinus with Coach Moore as we look to send Reading United’s USL2 team to the playoffs for the 2024 season.”  Coach Conway added, “I am also eager to lead the Reserve team leveraging my youth and collegiate coaching experiences.”

At the youth club soccer level, he is currently the College Prep Assistant Technical Director at West Mont United Soccer Club, and coaches the Boys 2008 and 2013 teams.  Previously, he has held several leadership positions including Technical Director at another King of Prussia Soccer Club as well as being the Head JV Coach of Bishop Shanahan High school in Downingtown. He owns a soccer coaching business called Innovate Sports LLC  Coach Conway also holds a FA Talent ID Level 1 certification from The Football Association!

Coach Conway was an Irish High School Physical Education and English teacher for six years.  His formal education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in Education. He has over 10 years of soccer coaching experience in Ireland and holds several licenses from UEFA, the Football Association of Ireland, as well as a USSF C license.
