The Reading United A.C. is pleased to have former Fleetwood HS, Penn State, Reading Rage, and US Men’s National Team player Troy Snyder involved with the team as Vice President and Technical Director. In the book, Fifteen Berks County Legends, Darryl Grumling writes, “…No player had a greater impact than Troy Snyder……Troy Snyder was the greatest player to come out of the soccer mecca that is Fleetwood High School. He is an unassuming young man whose calm, laid back demeanor is in contrast to his quiet intensity on the soccer field.” During his high school playing days, Snyder scored more goals than any other high school player in the nation (208), and holds innumerable Fleetwood records. He was All State as well as All American for three straight years. Troy is second on the PA high school career scoring list with 208 goals and 117 assists.
He spent most of his career playing indoor soccer but also won an outdoor title in 1987 with the San Diego Nomads. In 1988 he signed with the Dallas Sidekicks. Troy joined the Reading Rage for one season in 1997, before finishing his playing career with the Washington Warthogs and Baltimore Blast. Snyder earned five caps with the U.S. national team and remained in the National Team Pool from 1983 and 1992 as well as another nine with the U.S. National Futsal Team. In 1983, he was a member of the U.S. team at the U-20 World Championship. Troy is also former director of PR & Marketing for Washington Warthogs and Baltimore Blast indoor professional soccer teams. Troy lives in Sinking Spring with his wife Heather and two children; Cole and Kali
