Wednesday’s match at FA Euro will be Reading’s fifth in seven games on the road

BROOKLYN, NY - (June 11, 2019) - Reading United (5-0-1) takes a midweek trip to Brooklyn, New York to face FA Euro (1-4-2) for the second time this season. A late 8:30pm kickoff awaits both teams on Wednesday evening at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn.

After United’s jam-packed weekend, playing both Saturday and Sunday, they will hit the pitch again in search of another win. This road trip will be the fifth of seven away games this season for United, but that hasn’t slowed down what has shown to be a deep roster.

After earning their first draw of the season on Sunday against the Rough Riders (0-0), Reading United extended their streak to 24 USL League Two regular-season games without a loss. Although United didn’t come back home with the result they wanted, they continued another streak: their fourth straight shutout of the season. The Jamaican goalkeeper, Jahmali Waite, completed his third shutout in three starts with the club, following up his nomination to the USL League Two Team of the Week.

After finding themselves towards the top of the divisional table early in the season following a stretch where they landed five points in their first three games, FA Euro is in desperate need pulling back points in this matchup to keep pace with the rest of the Mid-Atlantic Division Standings. Despite their rough stretch following their loss to Reading, they’ve been quite stingy, especially at their home turf. With three draws to their credit in four games at Poly Prep, the Brooklyn-based squad is a tough matchup for Reading.

These two squads last faced each other for United’s season home opener in a thrilling 3-0 victory for the home team. Goals from McKinley, Baynham, and Becher gave the supportive fans a sneak peek into what the rest of the season would hold. This victory helped United advance to the number one spot of the USL League Two Mid-Atlantic Division standings.

Once again, the Connecticut native, Simon Becher, showed off his talents this Saturday against Evergreen FC, as he added another goal to put him up to four goals in just five games played this season. The standout forward is already ranked 13th in the USL League Two’s top 50 prospects and eighth in the league in goals.

The United squad will be back in Reading to host the Ocean City Nor’easters at Gurski Stadium on Saturday, June 15th at 7pm for Kicks Against Cancer Night. Reading will be wearing special black and gold jerseys in conjunction with Team 17 Strong and the Anthony Myers Movement. Tickets can be purchased for $5 online at readingunitedac.com/tickets and will jump to $10 at the gate on game day. Season tickets are still available for $20 and will cover the final five remaining home games and can be purchased through the same link.
