KNOW YOUR ENEMY: Ocean City Nor'easters

The other guys: 
The Ocean City Nor’easters, based out of New Jersey, joined the former USISL D-3 Pro League in 1997 as the Ocean City Barons, one year after the former Reading Rage joined the same league. They made the jump to the newly formed PDL one year prior to the Rage, making their amateur debut in 2003. In the past four years, they have reached two of four national semifinals. Currently, Ocean City in third place in the Mid Atlantic Division is USL League Two.

50th All-Time Matchup: 
This match will mark the 50th meeting between the two clubs, with Reading leading the all-time series 22-20-7, including a 15-2-3 stretch since the 2011 season. It’s a mark of longevity that few teams can boast at the USL League Two level can boast, starting back on July 11, 1997 in a 2-0 victory at Fleetwood High School for the former Reading Rage against the visiting Ocean City Barons.

Last matchup: 
On June 15th, our guys took on the Nor’Easters at home inside Gurski
Stadium that resulted in a 2-0 Victory. Simon Becher and Felipe Hideki had the only goals of the match in the first half as United totaled 14 shots all game. The Nor’easters totaled only five shots all match which Jahmali Waite had no problem stopping.

Dangerous Player:
Forward out of Wright State University, Deri Corfe, has played 11 games with the Nor’Easters and has tallied nine goals so far this season. Corfe finds himself in second place for goals scored all throughout USL League Two. Corfe will be a big test for United’s defense to shut down.

 
Game Day Details: 
The crew out of Ocean City and the crew out of Reading will meet inside Carey Stadium for this Sunday’s 7:00 pm matchup.
