Reading looks to secure first win of the season during 610 Night

READING, PA (May 27, 2021) –  Reading United will host Philadelphia Lone Star for the club’s second home matchup of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm at Exeter High School’s Don Thomas Stadium, with doors opening at 6:00pm.

Reading United has shown glimpses of excellence so far this season, especially during the first half of their contest against NOVA FC last weekend. After Ryan Becher’s headed goal within the first ten minutes of the game, Reading did a great job of limiting opposing chances by maintaining a majority of possession. Unfortunately, two goals by NOVA FC in the second half proved to be too much to overcome, resulting in Reading’s third straight loss to open the season.

Reading’s upcoming opponent, Philadelphia Lone Star, has also struggled through the first few fixtures this season. With one victory from their previous four games, the Lone Star will also be hungry for a win.

While this will be the first matchup between the two clubs in USL League Two play, they have met before in the U.S. Open Cup. Reading went up 2-0 early on a brace from Jeremy Rafanello by the 21st minute. A 69th minute goal from Shawn Genus cut United’s lead in half and Reading survived a late scare as a potential game-tying goal was called back for offside.

It is 610 Night at Don Thomas Stadium, where all things Berks County will be celebrated. Additionally, The Salvation Army of Reading PA, Barrio Alegría, and Centro Hispano will be in attendance to show support for the evening.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions at Exeter High School, concessions will not be available for purchase. Bottled water will be available for purchase at the merchandise stand. Per Exeter School District, face coverings will be required for entry and movement around the stadium, but are able to be removed when seated.

Tickets for the game can be purchased at readingunitedac.com/tickets. Tickets are $5 online + fees, but will be $10 at the gate. Season tickets are still available for purchase for only $25 and will cover all home games.
