KNOW YOUR ENEMY: Ocean City Nor'easters

Reading United will head to the shore to face off against the Ocean City Nor’easters this week in a Wednesday night match. The Nor’easters are currently in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference Mid Atlantic Division, three slots above Reading United. Ocean City is currently the only team in the Mid Atlantic Division who have not recorded any losses this season. 

Last Time Out: The Nor’easters have had a blazing start their season winning their first three matches. Recording shutouts in their first two matches of the season on the road against Real Central New Jersey (3-0), and Lehigh Valley United (7-0). The match against Lehigh Valley United was record-breaking. The club set a record for largest margin of victory during a road game within their club. During this match, the Nor’easters added five new goal scorers to their list, which propelled them to their victory over Lehigh Valley United. 

Profusion of Production: The Nor’easters leading goal scorers to date are Tyler Watson and Simon Becher with three goals apiece this season. Goaltenders Jahmali Waite and Yannik Oettl have stood strong in net for the Nor’easters. Waite is currently leading the team with five saves this season and has recorded a shutout against Real Central New Jersey. Oettl who is a 3-time American Conference Goalkeeper of the year has also recorded a shutout against Lehigh Valley United. Both Becher and Waite are former Reading United products.

Last Meeting: The last time these two teams went head-to-head was July 7,2019 at Carey Stadium. Claudio Repetto of the Nor’easters was off to a swift start scoring two minutes into the match. Ocean City kept the momentum and scored two more times ending the first half 3-0. Reading United’s Bakary Bagayoko was able to score a lone goal in the 90th minute of play. Deri Corfe’s hat trick sealed the deal on the 4-1 loss to the Nor’easters.
