United hit the Turnpike to face Lone Star in South Philly on Saturday evening

READING, PA (June 4, 2021) –  Reading United will travel to Philadelphia for a match against the Lone Star on Saturday for their second matchup of the season. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm at South Philadelphia Super Site. These two teams went head-to-head just over a week ago where Reading was able to secure their first win of the season in a 1-0 victory at home.

Last time these clubs clashed, Reading showed tremendous determination, especially during the second half of the match. The high press from Reading’s offense allowed the ball to find Alexander Hajj, where he carried it down the right side and crossed to Lyam MacKinnon who tapped it in to score the only goal of the game in the 1-0 final.

Reading comes into the match on a solid stretch of play, carrying a nearly 200 minute shutout streak into the road match. Just five days after dropping Lone Star, United went on the road to face former head coach Alan McCann and Ocean City Nor’easters. Reading’s defense held the upstart Ocean City club to only two shots on frame during the match, as the Nor’easters dropped their first points of the season.

Philadelphia Lone Star have had a rocky start to their season losing four of their first five games. The team now has two wins under their belt - both coming against Lehigh Valley United. Lone Star eked out a 2-1 victory against Lehigh Valley United on Wednesday evening. Former United signee Daniel Bloyou netted a second half brace in the victory.

This match-up will be surely one to watch with Reading looking to pull the double against Lone Star. Tickets for the matchup on June 5 at South Philadelphia Super Site can be purchased at https://www.philadelphialonestarfc.com/tickets. The match can also be viewed at readingunitedac.com/live.
