Bauer tapped as treasurer of Reading United’s ownership

READING, PA (February 7, 2022) –  Reading United today announced the addition of Christian M. Bauer as an ownership partner and treasurer of Berks Professional Sports, Inc., the team’s ownership group.

The incorporation of Christian into the ownership of the club adds him to an ownership group that currently includes Troy Snyder, President, and Art Auchenbach, Vice President.

“Reading United A.C. has a long and rich history in Berks County Soccer,” said Bauer. “To now be part of that organization is amazing. I am looking forward to working with Troy and Art to support the continued success of Reading United A.C."

Christian is a Berks native growing up in the Schuylkill Valley School District where he played youth and high school soccer.  Christian also played on the 1975 Reading Berks Select soccer team.  At Gettysburg College, Christian played two years of soccer before academics took him away from the game. Christian’s academic pursuits included a Master’s of Forensic Science from Marshall University and a law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center. While in law school, Christian met his wife, Marilu Rodriguez, a native of Puerto Rico. Christian is currently employed by a large pharmaceutical company as in-house intellectual property attorney.

Christian and Marilu currently live in Berks County and have two boys.  Their boys have played for a variety of Berks County’s youth clubs including Rage FC, FC Revolution, the Reading United Summer Select, and ACFC.  The boys are currently with Berks United FC, where Christian helps manage their teams. When not watching his sons play at Governor Mifflin or Berks Catholic, Christian himself may be on the field, albeit at a somewhat slower pace with the Governor Mifflin Over-40 men’s soccer team.

Reading Vice President, Art Auchenbach stated, “I have known Christian for a long time as a teammate, soccer parent, and proud Berks County native..  We have a shared passion for seeing the game grow in the greater Reading area.  His excitement, leadership, and organizational skills will benefit our team on and off the field.”

Reading United continues its preparation for the upcoming 2022 season with its first open tryout on Saturday, February 12th from 2-5pm at Alvernia University’s turf field. The team will utilize Alvernia as its home field, with a USL League Two schedule beginning against Philadelphia Lone Star on May 21st at 7pm.
