READING, PA (February 1, 2023) –  Reading United A.C. is pleased to announce the hiring of Amanda Bezner as the assistant coach for its first-ever women's Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team. Bezner brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team and will work alongside head coach Tom “Goose” Gosselin to lead Reading United’s WPSL team to success in its debut season.

A former Wilkes University and Alvernia University player, as well as a former WPSL player playing for Northampton Laurels FC, Bezner has a great knowledge of the game both on and off the pitch.

Currently, Bezner is the Women's Soccer Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Alvernia, helping to guide the Golden Wolves to their best season in half-a-decade in 2022. Bezner has shown a knack for recruiting, bringing in the third-leading scorer in the conference as a freshman this season.

She is also a youth coach with the FC Revolution, demonstrating a commitment to female player development, team success, and community engagement.

Gosselin had glowing remarks about adding Bezner to the team, stating "I look forward to working with Amanda in building Reading United’s women’s program.  Her experience and passion for the game will be a huge asset to our club and our players. I'm looking forward to working alongside Amanda and helping our players reach their full potential on and off the field."

Bezner expressed her excitement about joining the Reading United AC team, saying, "I'm honored to be joining such a reputable and dedicated club. I'm looking forward to working with “Goose” and the players to create a winning culture and bring success to Reading United A.C. in its first WPSL season."

Reading United President and Co-Owner, Christian Bauer added, “We’re committed to providing a positive and competitive environment for our players and are excited to have Bezner join the team. The club is looking forward to the upcoming season and is confident that Bezner will play a critical role in its success.”

Reading United A.C. continues its preparation for the upcoming 2023 season with open tryouts for its men’s USL League Two and women’s WPSL teams on March 5th and 12th from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Alvernia University’s turf field.
