GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Triumph SC today announced it has signed 26-year-old defender Toby Sims.
A native of Worksop, England, Sims played for Northern Premier League side Mickleover FC before playing collegiately in the United States with NCAA Division II school Chowan University. With the Hawks, Sims was named Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year on three occasions.
During his time in college, Sims played with NPSL side Greenville FC (2018-19) and USL League Two side SC United Bantams (2021), earning USL League Two Defender of the Year honors with the latter in 2021.
Sims began his professional career in the USL Championship with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in 2022, making 17 appearances and recording three goals with the Hounds across the USL Championship, U.S. Open Cup and USL Championship Playoffs.
In January 2023, Sims returned to his native England and signed with EFL League Two side Harrogate Town AFC. Between 2023 and 2025, Sims made 74 appearances, scored three goals and provided five assists with the Sulphurites across EFL League Two, EFL Trophy, EFL Cup and FA Cup play. Sims is coming off the most productive season of his professional career, recording 46 appearances and six goal contributions across all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign.
