READING, PA (May 24, 2018) – Reading United A.C. will look to close out the month of May with their undefeated league record intact when they host F.A. Euro on Saturday, May 26th at Wilson High School’s Gurski Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.

Reading United (2-0-0) kickoff their twenty-third all-time home opener in fine form having secured wins in their first two league matches of the season. Road victories over Lehigh Valley United and the Virginia Hammers see Reading enter the match in second place in the always competitive PDL Mid-Atlantic Division. United trail the Long Island Rough Riders by three points but have a game in-hand over the PDL affiliate of New York City FC. Though trailing in the division, Reading United were rated as the top club in the latest edition of the PDL’s Eastern Conference power rankings.

Head Coach Alan McCann’s side has yet to concede a goal this campaign, thanks in part to the inspired play of a defense led by Philadelphia Union Academy graduate Lamine Conte. The Philadelphia native, rated as one of the top 50 prospects in the PDL, has helped fellow PDL top prospects Kamal Miller and Daniel Krutzen seamlessly integrate into the Reading backline.

Reading United’s Mr. May, Khori Bennett, got the United offense rolling in the club’s last match, a 2-0 road victory over the Virginia Hammers. Now in his third season with the club, Bennett found the back of the net in the second minute to open the scoring. Spencer Burkhardt scored an insurance goal in the second half to seal the win for Reading.

F.A. Euro (0-3-0) head to Reading having yet to win a match in 2018 and sit in the basement of the Mid-Atlantic Division standings. Though they’ve yet to notch a win in 2018, the Brooklyn, New York base club has been competitive in matches against some of the division’s top clubs. In their last match, F.A. Euro conceded a last-minute game-winning goal to fall to Long Island, 1-0.

McCann knows that even though F.A. Euro is winless, his squad will need to be ready, saying, “We can see the division race is going to be another close one from the games that have already been played. Every game will matter and consistency is key.”

Reading United will return to action at Wilson’s High School’s Gurski Stadium for a crucial Premier Development League clash with the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Division champions, the New York Red Bulls U23s on Saturday, June 2nd. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 7:00pm and tickets are available at www.readingunitedac.com/tickets.
